SOU is a participatory creation project involving members of APCO (Odemira Cerebral Palsy Association). It uses theater and street arts as tools for exploring self-knowledge and self-esteem, guiding the group to explore emotions, motor coordination, and physical movement, while developing communication skills and teamwork.
The project seeks to establish an inner gaze for each individual as an actor, through a process of gathering daily experiences regarding various aspects of life, such as home, family, work, or celebration. From this experience and sharing, dramaturgical tableaux are created, placing each individual in a state of presence that brings the relationship of intimacy between them to the stage.
The gesture of sharing with the public is central to this work. Presenting in public spaces allows the project to reach a wider and more diverse audience, contributing to awareness-raising about mental disability through a long-term commitment aimed at impacting the lives of both participants and the community. The project includes the creation of three performances, presented in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
