MEMORY AND THE PLACE

[ Art and Community ]

Open to different mutations depending on the space in which it is presented, “Memory and Place” is a project that takes shape through a close interplay with the material and immaterial, symbolic and affective characteristics specific to each location where it is presented.

We begin by meeting with people from the community where the project is taking place, who share their stories with us. By listening attentively to lives from times both recent and more distant, we uncover the collective memory of communities that remain very much present.

Sound and photography serve as the basis for recording these memories, which take shape and form in an installation. Portraits and archive images are projected onto cubes, along with a sound piece broadcast on FM radio for individual listening with headphones, create a narrative and a new memory of the place.
